Songwriting and Storytelling with Sean Harrison

Sat, Apr 11

|

Dolores River Brewery

Sean thrives in the intimate setting of house concerts typically, but we convinced him to give our "house" a try. Sean's written and played with troubadours and poets, bums and stars. He's got stories to tell and songs to share that mesmerize and engage.

About the event

For me it started in 1964. I was 5. The Beatles and Dylan did a number on me that is still reverberating. Then along came Bobby Gentry, Roger Miller, Johnny Cash, and so on. I'll play bits and pieces of those influences and tell you how it all led to songs like Good Cover Story, and Halfway From Nashville.

I was about 11 and I was hearing Creedence Clearwater, Cat Stevens, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, some British Invasion pop hits, and I was mesmerized by Abbey Road. The years 1969, 1970 and '71, there was so much happening. I tried to take it all in, and it formed its own kind of conscience in me. I was a young folky, of sorts, enthralled with these wild new rock sounds.

More about this, and much more, when I perform "An Americana Songwriter's Journey."
